Music Therapy & Counselling
We design accessible, unique and meaningful programs for the people we serve taking into account their personal preferences and music interests to address clinical and therapeutic areas of need such as cognitive, emotional, physical, social and spiritual areas of health and wellness.
Find Your Voice Music Therapy travels directly to the people we serve in the Katarokwi/ Kingston, Ontario and K’jipuktuk/ Halifax, Nova Scotia areas to facilitate individual and group sessions whether they are located in a school, hospital, community centre, long term care centre, or their home as examples.
Some experiences may include; discussion, reminiscence, singing, playing instruments, songwriting, recording music, improvisation, movement / dancing, relaxation, and visual art.
Programs are created according to the interests and preferences of those involved. We integrate preferred themes, values, beliefs, songs, artists, and genres so the experience is valued and meaningful.
Verbal and musical interventions are used to assess and treat areas such as cognitive, emotional, physical, social and spiritual health and wellness.
Individualized summary notes are completed after every session and with consent shared with the individual, POA, family, facility staff, other healthcare professionals etc. to keep the circle of care informed with what’s occurring in the session.
