Getting to Know Alexa!

We are beyond thrilled to welcome Alexa Munroe Choquette to the Find Your Voice Music Therapy: Katarokwi/ Kingston, ON team.  Read May’s blog post to learn more about Alexa! =)

What are you passionate about in music therapy?

Music therapy is a way to connect with others on a different level and through a means that can join us all together. When I think of music, I think of music worldwide and how it can evoke so many different emotions and sensations. I love that music therapy offers another way of communicating and working through our reasons for seeking music therapy in the first place.

Why did you want to join the Katarokwi/Kingston, ON Find Your Voice Music Therapy team?

I have worked as a sole music therapist running her mobile practice and have wanted to work in a team setting for a while. This position offered an opportunity to collaborate with other music therapists in a team environment that is supportive and forward-thinking. That aspect appealed to me and seemed like a perfect fit for the work environment I was hoping to be a part of moving forward.

What do you hope to accomplish through your music therapy work in YGK?

Through my music therapy work, I hope to bring more support to the community and those working through these challenging times. I want to provide services that can help work through challenges and bring new joy to the clients’ lives. I love working with diverse populations, and I hope to provide this support through a broader spectrum of the communities in the YGK.
