Elizabeth Heslinga

Elizabeth Heslinga. Music Therapist. Kingston Ontario.

Elizabeth Heslinga, BMT, MTA (she/her), began playing the flute in grade 5 and was honoured to have played with a youth orchestra as well as the National Concert Band.  She experienced the power of music while playing for her cousin with a brain injury, and decided to pursue a career in music therapy.

Elizabeth graduated at the top of her class with a degree in Music Therapy from Acadia University.  Following her internship with Music Therapy Services of Simcoe County, Elizabeth established private practice Beyond Words Music Therapy.  She pioneered the field of music therapy in her community of Trenthills and the Quinte area, establishing more than a full caseload within a few short years.

Elizabeth has a heart for working with the elderly and 9 years’ experience working in long term care establishments.  Working with adults and children with special needs has also been very successful for her.  Elizabeth trained as an internship supervisor, and has supported one music therapist in their accreditation.  Elizabeth reduced her workload to raise and nurture her 3 children in their early years, and is excited to continue her passion for helping others through the use of music, alongside Find Your Voice Music Therapy.
