Why Rise Again Tutoring?
Rise Again Tutoring is catered to the unique needs of each student. Sonja Moller-Hatfield's teaching method focuses on building confidence and self-esteem, while enriching students' knowledge and abilities as a music therapist. She is always conscious of her students' learning styles and strive to adapt her teaching method to best suit the needs of each student. By providing a safe space for learning, her students can feel comfortable discussing areas of stress or discomfort, and provide honest feedback regarding their education in their sessions.
When studying with Rise Again Tutoring, students are exposed to a wide variety of information and subjects to help them prepare for the exam. This includes, but is not limited to all domains of the exam, as well as psychology, ethics, populations, and session planning. They also have the opportunity to go through practice questions, review study materials, and discover new ways of studying that are particularly important for this exam.
When enrolling in the Rise Again Tutoring, students are provided with a study plan template, (that is based on the same template used by the instructor to study for her exam), that they can either fill in by themselves or with their tutor's guidance, as well as many other valuable study materials. Once students have access to these materials, their access to them will never expire, and if new materials are added they will have access to them as well.
Finally, when you choose to study with Rise Again Tutoring, you are not just getting tutoring sessions, but also a person devoted to seeing you succeed! With Rise Again Tutoring, you will not only gain the tools you need to pass the CBMT Exam, but also the skills you need to maintain and advance your career as a music therapist!

Sonja Moller-Hatfield (she/her), BMT, MT-BC, MTA, is a board-certified music therapist, practicing out of K'jipuktuk/ Halifax, Nova Scotia. Following the completion of her internship with Find Your Voice Music Therapy (FYVMT) in 2021, Sonja continued her work with FYVMT, working at the location in Katarokwi/ Kingston, Ontario. During this time, Sonja began studying for the CBMT Exam. As someone who always struggled with writing exams, the process of studying was stressful and strenuous. But with the support from her music therapy community, and after developing key study habits, she accomplished passing the exam on her first attempt.
During the process of preparing for and writing the exam, Sonja discovered that while it is important to have strong foundational knowledge of music therapy theory to pass the exam, what's more important is to have the right kind of mindset. Upon completion of the exam, Sonja developed an interest in sharing knowledge, insights and mindset she acquired during her exam-writing process to as many qualifying music therapists as possible. She is now happy, and proud to be offering her study materials, methods and approaches to all qualifying music therapists virtually/ in person in Canada and the United States!
Sonja's ultimate goal for her students, is to provide all the tools and information necessary for successful test-taking. She is also aware that the process of writing the CBMT exam can be difficult for many accomplished students. Her sensitive, mindset-oriented approach to studying will be helpful for anxious test-takers, and seasoned academics alike.
