Perinatal Music Psychotherapy & Counselling for Maternal Health

Is what you're doing to be well in your pregnancy supporting you?
Are you hearing your own wisdom as you journey into motherhood?
Do you have interest in moving from reactive to reflective living as a mother?

This program is for mothers interested in embodiment of awakened, conscious, heart centered parenting. For those wanting to move from states of fear, scarcity, and lack to states of ease, confidence, and abundance in motherhood. Sessions are individually curated and incorporate aspects of mindfulness, reflection practices, music, sound, and breath work according to the interest of the participant.  We hold space for all gender diverse persons, therefore welcome all who identify as mothers.

Individual sessions can be scheduled for 45 minutes or 1 hour in duration, at a frequency of weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. The amount of sessions depends entirely on the interest of the participant. There is not a prescriptive amount of sessions as each person's journey is individualized and honoured as is.  Please connect directly with Mackenzie to learn more about the cost of sessions.  Sessions can be covered through health insurance with Mackenzie being both a Certified Music Therapist and Registered Counselling Therapist.

Program Themes

Loving Kindness… is one of the four cardinal virtues in Buddhism. It is a “deep friendliness” with ourselves and all beings. We can transform our default thinking of doubt and hostility to a steady stream of kindness—which is the ultimate freedom from suffering.

Wisdom… is not to be mistaken with knowledge (an exercise of the ego mind), Wisdom is a quality of the heart. It’s beyond intellect. You can’t hear your (Higher) self unless you get still and listen. School and business teach us to mine the “facts.” Now we’ll learn to tap WISDOM.

Divine Love… is the ultimate in Inclusiveness. Shadow + light and all of our fragments and glory are welcomed into the Heart. This can be the whole purpose of your life. This Virtue is the deeply practical approach to what mystics have been teaching for centuries.

Resilience… is adaptability + inclusiveness + the fortitude of the heart. It’s not about toughening up, it’s about finding steadiness in the inclusive heart. We bend so we don’t break.

Program Music and Breath Work

In connection with Mackenzie's training as a Certified Music Therapist you will be supported through how the voice and the benefits of music can be used in labour and delivery. Programming considerations involve both vaginal and cesarean deliveries.

Some activities may include: breath work, singing, vocalizing, chanting, meditation and music, relaxation and imagery, improvisation, songwriting, playing instruments, and creating a delivery playlist. You do not need to have a background in music or identify as a musician to participate. All sessions will be intentionally curated at the comfort level and interest of the participants.

Program Mindfulness Practices

Heart Centered Manifesting: Creating heart centered life visions where personal fulfillment also brings benefit to others. (Because the days of the self-centered bucket list are over.)

How To Choose Loving Thoughts: Make unconscious thoughts conscious, to raise the vibration of our thinking. Identifying thoughts that are fear-based, in order to choose thoughts that are in alignment with Loving Kindness.

The Stop Doing List: Identify what you can Stop Doing to create more ease in your inner and outer worlds.

The Self Help Laundry List: A self help audit to simplify your spiritual practices so you can go deeper into your heart.

The What I Trust List: Create a list of what you trust to deepen mental relaxation and sense of being supported.

Deeper Gratitude: Increase your scope and sensation of appreciation.

Love Letters: Neutralize judgements by writing appreciation messages to both positive and negative emotional states.
